Around 7:50 p.m., Ringsted Fire Chief Dan Jorgenson received the alarm that the old creamery was on fire. The roof was already caved in when firefighters arrived. The fire department set up a defense around an adjacent house and let the fire burn itself out. The cause of the blaze is under investigation. The loss is considered negligible as the building has not had a purposeful use in 10 years. The fire comes on the heels of talks with a buyer interested in the property, according to a statement by Jorgenson at Tuesday's Emmet County Board of Supervisor's meeting.
