A first-degree arson charge was dropped against a West Des Moines teen accused of setting one of Madison County's iconic bridges on fire. Alexander Hoff, 17, of West Des Moines was arrested on April 17. The Madison County Sheriff's Office received a report of the fire at the Cedar Bridge at about 6 a.m. on April 15. The bridge was fully engulfed by the time fire crews and law enforcement got to the scene about 20 minutes later, according to the sheriff’s office.
