As smoke billowed from a 12-unit building on Plymouth Road, residents watched spirals of flame bursting through the roof Thursday afternoon. Mason City Fire Department crews battled the fire at Plymouth Apartments at Plymouth Road and 12th Street Northeast.
April Harrington, 30, didn’t know the building was on fire until she was outside of her basement floor apartment.
“I was leaving to go take care of my horses and the smoke was billowing out the top of the apartment,” Harrington said.
