The Burlington City Council will vote on formally accepting a million-dollar federal grant designed cover the costs of six additional firefighters for the Burlington Fire Department at their meeting next week. The Staffing for Adequate Fire & Emergency Response grant, or SAFER Grant, is provided by the Federal Emergency Management Agency and will cover 75% of the costs for the six firefighters for the first two years and 35% for the third year.
