The Iowa Falls City Council voted Monday to accept a recommendation from a Fire Chief Search Committee and appoint Scott Eisentrager to be the next chief. Chief Rick Gustin, who has served 13 years as head of the department, announced in January 2016 that he hoped to step down to spend more time focused on his growing business, Iowa Falls Heating/AC/Plumbing. In June 2016 the search for his replacement was suspended because of a “limited number of applications”. At the time, Gustin agreed to continue to serve as chief until a replacement could be found.
