The Oelwein Fire Department took part in some competitive training exercises Saturday in the sunshine and heat of a late August afternoon. The department held a waterball competition with 10 visiting departments competing in a double elimination tournament including both men’s and women’s categories. Oelwein volunteer firefighter Matt Derifield and his colleague Ryan Haar brought the competition back to Oelwein after a 15-year hiatus.
