Melcher-Dallas Fire Chief Zachary Kalvig said there are no updates or determination yet on the cause of a fire that ripped through several businesses in downtown Melcher-Dallas on July 4. At around 9:30 p.m., July 4, the Melcher-Dallas Fire Department received a call about smoke billowing out of the store That’s My Bag & More, on the west side of the square. By 10 p.m., the fire had gotten out of control and reinforcements had to be brought in from throughout Marion County. Kalvig said he was paged for a possible structure fire.
