Three weeks into the legal period for using fireworks in Cedar Rapids and some people say they’ve had it. The complaints of loud noises at all hours and more recently concerns about house and garage fires are mounting. Tuesday night at Balloon Glow, Dan Alpers encouraged friends and neighbors to seek out their state and local lawmakers at summer events and give them an earful, “ I think we absolutely made a huge mistake. There’s really no reason to allow something like this, it’s fruitless. Last night somebody blew up their garage, enough said. I just want life back to normal where my dog isn’t bounding off the floors.”
