VIDEO: Investigators have determined that an idle electrical extension cord is the most likely cause of a June 11 fire that resulted in at least $1.5 million in damage to one of the most heavily used research buildings on the University of Iowa campus. The investigation — overseen by the Iowa City Fire Department and UI fire safety coordinator — determined that the cause of the fire in the Bowen Science Building was accidental, according to a UI news release Tuesday.
