The Humboldt City Council approved the purchase of a new fire truck at Monday’s meeting. The Fire Department attempted twice to apply for a federal Assistance to Firefighters Grant for a fire truck, but was unsuccessful, City Administrator Travis Goedken said. The grant is highly competitive, he said. “So in order to pursue that the council budgeted to borrow that $400,000 in conjunction with the $100,000 cash we had on hand to pay for it,” Goedken said. The specifications were based on those applications, Goedken said.
