Three generations of a Burlington family escaped injury when they were alerted by a passerby to a fire in the attic of their house Thursday afternoon on South Hill. Dorothy Thompson, her daughter, Debbie Barnes, her two great-grandchildren and family friend fled the home after the passerby, Tony Kennedy of Burlington, saw smoke coming from the roof of the home at 801 S. 12th St.
