The Des Moines Township Fire Department in Argyle will receive $34,048 in funding from the Department of Homeland Security’s Assistance to Firefighters Grants Program. The funding will be used to purchase personal protective equipment including trousers, boots and jackets, according to a news release Friday from U.S. Rep. Dave Loebsack, D-Iowa. Fire Chief Jason Newberry said the department has been working to obtain assistance for quite some time, and partnered with a grantwriter in Pennsylvania when applying.
