Dong. A drizzling rain and grey winds couldn’t put a damper on the Council Bluffs Fire Department celebrating the completion of the historic bell tower at the central station Friday afternoon, capped with loud ringing the bell. Hundreds turned out to mark the occasion at 200 South Fourth St. as the colors were presented and the national anthem was sung. Food and drinks were enjoyed in the shelter of the station. Numerous local and state officials were present to mark the occasion as Fire Chief Justin James thanked an extensive list of benefactors who helped make the department’s dream of the bell tower a reality.
