VIDEO: A basement fire proved difficult to extinguish Friday night in Marshalltown, Iowa. According to a news release from the Marshalltown Fire Deparment, firefighters responded to a report of a structure fire at 411 West Linn St. at 9:09 p.m. The house's occupants escaped the burning building, and firefighters were told the fire was located in the basement. Heavy smoke came from the residence, and when crews entered, they found hoarding conditions. These factors, as well as the location of the fire and limited access, led to fire personnel being pulled from the building.
