Dozens of children and adults made the Mason City Fire Department’s annual open house a success Sunday afternoon. The open house, a fun and educational experience for all ages, offered residents the opportunity to meet local firefighters; get a close-up look at the department’s fire trucks, fire hoses and other equipment; watch demonstrations and learn more about other area public safety organizations. It concluded National Fire Prevention Week, which was Oct. 8-14. During the week, fire department personnel visited schools, provided tours and educated the public about fire prevention.
