PHOTO: First responders in Scott County mourned the loss of one of their own Wednesday as Davenport Fire Marshal Mike Hayman was laid to rest at Mount Calvary Cemetery. Fire, police, sheriff and emergency medical services personnel lined up outside St. Anthony's Catholic Church at 4th and Main streets to honor Hayman. Interim Fire Chief Jim Bickford, friends with the late marshal for 33 years, said Hayman left behind an indelible legacy. “We came up through the ranks together and for the past 17 years we have shared the challenges and joys of being part of the Davenport Fire Department’s staff," Bickford said. "He was a great firefighter and even better person. Mike’s death is a huge loss to me, the department, and the community. His knowledge, calm demeanor, confidence and sense of humor will be deeply missed."
