Several emergency crews were called to the Meadow Wood Apartments in Carroll Thursday afternoon on reports of a fire. At approximately 3:20 p.m., the Carroll Fire Department responded to 1106 Woodland Dr. in the eastern portion of town. According to Fire Chief Greg Schreck, the fire started on a stove-top in apartment 207 and was stopped from spreading by an occupant using a fire extinguisher. When fire crews arrived, a significant amount of smoke still remained in the building. Crews remained on scene for about 30 minutes to clear the smoke and monitor for hot spots.
