Oelwein firefighters and police responded to an emergency call of smoke in a home at 313 First Avenue SE shortly after 10 a.m. Thursday.Oelwein Police Chief Jeremy Logan said the persons living in the house had called 911 after seeing and smelling smoke. The house is owned by Daniel Pelc, and the tenants were outside the house when firefighters arrived. Smoke was trailing from the eaves and attic vent of the story and a half wood-framed house, signaling a possible attic fire, but no flames were visible.
