Issues involving Glenwood's Fire Department have been a major focus of city officials recently. Longtime Glenwood Fire Chief Butch Fidler resigned at a recent city council meeting. Fidler's resignation is effective December 31st. Glenwood Mayor Ron Kohn tells KMA News the city hopes to name Fidler's successor at the next council meeting December 18th. "We're going to look at the staffing that we currently have," said Kohn, "find out the interest of anybody that's there, and then the city council will look at the guidelines for the fire chief. Then, the city council will make a decision." Kohn says at least a couple of candidates have expressed interest in the opening. Fidler's resignation comes as the city is exploring avenues for a new fire station and new equipment.
