Fire investigators say an animal feed manufacturer that caught fire earlier this month had no automatic fire suppression systems or alarms. The Oskaloosa Fire Department responded just after 11 a.m. on Feb. 4 to a facility owned by International Ingredients Corp. at 2387 Highway 23 for reports of a structure fire. It took 84 firefighters from nine departments and an estimated 1.2 million gallons of water to put out the fire, officials said. No firefighters or civilians were injured. Damage was estimated at $1.85 million. The cause of the fire was not immediately known, and it remains under investigation.
