A man who was found laying on the bank of the Des Moines River in Fort Dodge Wednesday morning was taken to UnityPoint Health — Trinity Regional Medical Center by ambulance. Fire Department Capt. Steve Teske said the man had apparently been in the water at some point before he was spotted on the river bank near what’s commonly called the little dam. He said firefighters learned about the man in an unusual way. He said a fisherman who spotted the individual drove to the firehouse at 1515 Central Ave. and knocked on the back door at about 7 a.m. Firefighters split up and began searching both sides of the river.
