Des Moines officials have released the identity of a man who died in a house fire Monday afternoon. He has been identified as Emmitt Johnson, the owner of the home. Des Moines officials said the Polk County Medical Examiner will perform an autopsy to determine the cause of death. The residence did not appear to have working smoke alarms. Officials said the fire was confined to the room where Johnson was located. The Des Moines Fire Department and Des Moines Police Department are investigating the cause and origin of the fire.
