Fire damaged a Waterloo home Sunday afternoon. Residents at 1225 Doreen Ave. noticed the fire when they returned home around 3:10 p.m. They rescued their pet cat and called 911. No injuries were reported. The fire started on the back porch and burned up the outside wall and into the attic area before firefighters put it out, said Battalion Chief Troy Luck with Waterloo Fire Rescue. The home’s interior suffered smoke and heat damage, Luck said. The cause of the fire hasn’t been determined, but authorities it doesn't appear suspicious.
