A Chihuahua survived a nearly 40-foot fall down a hole at an eastern Iowa state park, much to her owner’s delight. The adventurous pup was rescued by crews from the Edgewood Fire Department. "It was the most horrible, gut wrenching cry I have ever heard," said Kathy Thor a resident of Riverside. Thor said she'd never seen her husband cry until they nearly lost their 12-year-old Chihuahua Miss P. Miss P was walking off her leash at Bixby State Park when she fell down a hole. “Then I heard her whimper,” I said, 'she is in there, she is alive,’ " Thor said. After trying to get Miss P herself, Thor called 911. The Edgewood Fire Department jumped into action and retrieved the dog.
