Stuffed animals, foil balloons and candles left on the front steps of a Commercial Street home are a testament to the tragedy of three lives lost to a fire last week. Services are today in Cedar Falls for Amber Dawn Evermann, 33, Amari Myon Burkett, 9, and Ava ShaNeigh Everman, 5. As family and friends mourn the loss, fire officials continue to work toward determining how the fatal blaze started. On Wednesday, an investigator from the property owner’s insurance company and the city fire marshal conducted a joint inspection of the house at 1815 Commercial St. The cause is still under investigation pending possible further examination by an outside expert, said Fire Chief Pat Treloar.
