VIDEO: Dubuque firefighters stationed themselves at Walmart and Target on Thursday to teach a lifesaving skill. They taught customers how to do hands-only CPR. Assistant Fire Marshal Derek Paulson explained this is an option for people who are hesitant to do CPR because of giving mouth to mouth. He said doing just the chest compressions can ensure blood is still flowing through the body. In short, Paulson said some CPR is better than none at all. "As long as they keep the blood moving to the heart to keep the heart pumping they have a lot better chance of maybe keeping someone alive or helping their situation until we get there," Paulson said.
