A Ventura firefighter was hurt after the fire truck he was driving rolled south of Ventura on Saturday. Doug Phinney, 65, was driving the Ventura Protective Association's 2000 Freightliner Pumper fire truck after leaving a fire scene about 9:34 p.m. Phinney turned too short onto Balsam Avenue from 170th Street, the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff's Office said in a news release, causing the truck to roll onto its top in the ditch. Clear Lake Ambulance transported him to Mercy Medical Center--North Iowa with minor injuries. The fire truck sustained damage in the rollover, the sheriff's office said.
