Fire engulfed a home at 40521 330th Avenue in West Bend last Friday just after 11 a.m.
According to West Bend Fire Chief Evan Winkelhorst, his department received a call about a house fire at 11:15 a.m. When units arrived on the scene, firefighters were unable to gain entry due to the heavy smoke. Winkelhorst said his department received assistance from Bode, Ottosin, Rolse and Pocahontas fire divisions. There were 12 to 14 fire department vehicles on scene and 30 fire personnel.
The homeowner, Denton Knobloch, and two children were at home at the time of the fire. The family was able to evacuate the house without injury. Knobloch placed the call to report the fire.
