Clarinda firefighters waged an all-night battle against a pesky house fire. Clarinda's department was called to a fire at 514 West Main Street at around 11:30 Monday evening, and were at the scene for approximately seven hours. Clarinda Fire Chief Roger Williams tells KMA News smoke was pouring from the house upon their arrival. "When we arrived, there was heavy black smoke pouring from the second floor," said Williams. "So, we entered the structure, and tried to locate the fire, and we did locate the fire on the second floor. It burned in between the walls, the ceiling and floor--so, it was hard to get to." Williams says the fire proved elusive to firefighters.
