One woman is dead after crashing her car into a canal this morning on Highway 55 near Celeste Street, according to the Canyon County Sheriff's Office.
Officials say they got the call around 10:30 this morning that a single vehicle had crashed into a canal.
Upon arrival, deputies say they found the vehicle completely submerged with one person inside the vehicle. Police tell CBS 2 News that the driver has been identified as a 21-year-old female from the Homedale area, her identification has not been released as next of kin are still being notified.
The crash is under investigation according to the Canyon County Sheriff, and it is not known if alcohol was a factor in the crash.
Officials also want to remind the community to slow down and always wear your seat belt when driving.
