There were two house fires in Pocatello Wednesday morning that seemed to have been caused by heating appliances.
Around 7:45 there was a fire on the corner of Wayne Avenue and Elm Street.
Fire officials say it seems to have been a chimney fire that ignited the timber in the roof and caused a fire in the attic area.
The person who lives there got out of the house uninjured.
A second house fire happened at 6:15 Wednesday morning on Fairway Drive near Highland High School.
The family in that house was able to get out before the flames ignited.
"The previous fire, we believe to be caused by a wall heater, and again that is still under investigation,” shares Chief David Gates with the Pocatello Fire Department. “But yes, I think when the temperatures drop like this, we do see an increase in heater related fires."
