Firefighters quickly put out a brush blaze near the intersection of West Chubbuck Road and North Philbin Road Thursday evening. But they initially closed Philbin Road for about 10 minutes as a precaution, according to Chubbuck Fire Chief Merlin Miller. The fire was reported shortly after 6 p.m. The fire burned an area of grass about 100 by 200 feet, according to Miller. The fire started when an area resident was mowing the site. The exact cause isn't known yet. But two possibilities include a spark from a mower blade hitting a rock or an issue with the mower, Miller said. The man driving the mower appeared uninjured.
