A hazmat situation in Emmett that sent two people to the hospital has been given the 'all clear' early Friday morning. A homeowner in Gem County called authorities Thursday evening, after finding an unknown substance under the sink in his bathroom. He told investigators when he opened the bag, he vomited and also experienced a burning sensation in his nose, eyes and throat. A woman in the home also experienced the same burning sensations. Both people inside the home were taken to the St. Alphonsus in Boise. As of early Friday, there was no update on their conditions. The hours-long hazmat investigation revealed that the substance in question was a chemical that's used to clean swimming pools. Emmett Police and Emergency Medical Personnel arrived at the house at 5:45 p.m. Thursday, with the Emmett Fire Department arriving soon after.
