Firefighters risk their lives to protect their community and in the Wood River Valley, two fire departments got equipped with more ways to improve their fire skills.
On Sunday, Sun Valley and Ketchum city officials and their fire departments unveiled their new training facility to the public.
"It will help us bring us to a higher level," said Sun Valley assistant fire chief Taan Robrahn. "It get us to experience live fire, something that's been a little more difficult for us these days, we don't have as many houses or structures or the rules in place so this gives us the ability for our new recruits and all us to experience live fire conditions."
For the last five years, the department has worked to bring in a fire training structure to their area.
"We would go to different conferences and we sent our firefighters to different areas to do hands on training," Robrahn said.
