Firefighters battle fire in Pittsfield apartment building

Pittsfield firefighters spent Thursday afternoon battling a fire at a singe-story apartment building, according to fire officials. Pittfield Fire Chief Jason White said crews were called to Capps Apartments, located in the 200 block of West Adams Street, earlier that morning. He said a small fire was contained to a light fixture and a small area around it in the bathroom. White said firefighters were called back to the apartment building in the afternoon. He said a fire spread through the attic area into the four apartments on the West Adams Street said of the building. White said those four apartments received heavy fire, smoke and water damage. He said two other apartments had significant smoke damage. According to White, no was injured in the fire. White said it appeared the tenants in the damaged apartments had to find a place to stay.
