Giving back to the community is something that Johnston City Fire Chief Tom Burton feels is important for his department to do. "Some people don't have it as lucky as others," he said. "Besides helping when they need assistance like fire or medical, we can also help them out in different ways." Burton's department came through in a big way this week, providing Christmas for 23 local children from the Manna Mission's Angel Tree. "We did a boot collection at the four-way a couple of weeks ago," said Burton. That afternoon raised $2,300. Then came the fun, according to volunteer Tricia Smith. "We went shopping to get the gifts," she said. "It makes my heart full."
