A firefighter was briefly trapped in a house fire authorities believe was set by an arsonist. It happened about 3:15 am, Wednesday, in the 1200-block of East Prairie.
When crews arrived, the house was engulfed. Shortly after starting to fight the fire, the back porch collapsed, trapping the firefighter. He crawled out of the debris unharmed.
It took almost three hours to extinguish the blaze. The structure is a total loss. The cause is being investigated as suspicious.
