VIDEO: Three people were injured Thursday afternoon when an ambulance responding to a call was struck by another vehicle at an intersection in Palatine, authorities said. The crash happened about 2 p.m. A Palatine Fire Department ambulance was westbound on Palatine Road at Rohlwing Road and was struck by GMC Safari van that was northbound on Rohlwing, according to Palatine Fire Chief Scott Andersen and a news release from Palatine police. The ambulance rolled onto its side and wound up off the street and partly into the yard of a residence at the northwest corner of the intersection before stopping. A traffic signal also was knocked down during the crash.
