Police, fire and EMS crews raced to Unity West Elementary School to participate in a mass casualty training drill Monday night.
The Tolono Fire Department hosted the exercise, and created a crisis scenario where dozens of people were facetiously injured after the gym bleachers collapsed.
"We're preparing for let’s say a Friday night football game where there's a collapse at the school,” Tolono Assistant Fire Chief Chris Humor said. “So at that point we have a lot of victims because everyone is in the stands. Those types of calls aren't as frequent, so it's good to practice those so we are prepared for that type of an event."
The Tolono Fire Department brought in neighboring agencies to assist in the drill.
