Only two days after Bradley Fire Chief Jim Travis retired, an interim chief has been appointed.
The Bradley Village Board approved the appointment of Jim Eggert as interim chief. He is expected to be on duty by early- to mid-January, Mayor Bruce Adams said.
His initial contract will be for six months, where he will earn $66,000. If the search takes longer than six months, he would serve another six months for the same pay rate for a total one-year salary of $132,000. Village administrator Catherine Wojnarowski said at this pay rate, the village actually would be saving $25,000 versus what Travis was being paid.
Eggert served as fire chief for River Forest from 2004 to 2017. Prior to that position, he served as fire chief from 1994 to 2004 for the Tri-State First Protection District in Darien.
The Tri-State district included the communities of Burr Ridge, Darien, Willowbrook and unincorporated southeast DuPage County.
