A fire at a South Peoria house left the structure a total loss, officials said late Wednesday.
Members of the Peoria Fire Department were called to 818 S. Shelley St. at about 9:35 p.m. on a report of a fire. The blaze at the single-story house was brought under control by 10:30 p.m., said Battalion Chief Ralph Phillips.
“They made an aggressive attack inside,” said Phillips. He said the house next door, 816 S. Shelley St., suffered some burn damage, but not much compared with the main structure. The house at 818 S. Shelley St., was deemed a total loss and damage was estimated at $50,000, according to a department news release. The department estimated that $15,000 in damage was caused to the second home at 816 S. Shelley St.
