A woman is recovering in the hospital after jumping from her second story bedroom window Monday morning to escape a fire. Fire officials say, as of now, the woman doesn't have any serious injuries. She's very fortunate since she jumped a good 12 - 14' to escape the smoke and fire making its way through her home. She landed on the front lawn. A driver passing by saw the whole thing unfold and called 911. Crews arrived within minutes and knocked the flames out. The woman was then transported to the hospital. Authorities say she was coherent and able to talk. They warn people to look for other options to escape a fire before resorting to jumping. The woman explained the heat and smoke intensified before she jumped. Officials say the fire started in the living room, but a specific cause is under investigation.
