Not every little boy or girl wants to be a firefighter, but when your father fights fires, it does give a child ideas.
That’s what happened for Brady Rutishauser. His father, Dennis, is chief of the Mendota Fire Department and Brady can’t remember ever wanting to be anything other than a firefighter.
“I remember every Christmas since I was a baby that I got a fire truck,” he said. Morgan Mumm was content with her dolls when she was a child but she knew her father would often give up evenings to respond to emergencies, including a fire in a coal car on Oct. 29, 2007.
It was the last time her father, Scott Mumm, would respond to a call. He died later that night due to a heart attack related to his work fighting the fire.
