Fire caused heavy damage Thursday to a house at 602 Alliance Ave. on the city’s west side.
Fire crews arrived at the burning house less than five minutes after the fire was reported at 10 a.m., acting District Chief Kyle Hill said.
“When we arrived on scene, there was heavy fire on the front porch and also fire on the inside,” Hill said. “I don’t know if it started on the front porch and extended in, or if it started on the inside and extended out.”
A woman was transported to a local hospital with burns. Her injuries are not life-threatening.
Two other people inside the house safely evacuated.
Hill said there were working smoke detectors inside the house, which alerted the residents to the fire.
“At this time there’s heavy damage to the house, but I don’t know if it’s a complete loss,” Hill said.
The cause of fire was determined to be accidental.
