The Champaign Fire Department celebrated the 4th annual Edward M. Hoffman Awards and Pinning Celebration. Engine 152 was dedicated in memory of firefighter Hoffman...who died in the line of duty in 1960. A bell is on the front of the truck and his name was placed on the truck where he would've ridden. "Firefighters do lose their lives in the line of duty...To be able to dedicate that truck, it's huge. The fact that when they go to work every day and put their gear on the truck, they get that reminder of the risk and what can happen," Deputy Fire Marshall Randy Smith said. The department recognized several new members of the department and those who've been promoted. A few were also given letters of recommendation by Chief Gary Ludwig.
