New York City firefighters train at South Bend’s River Rescue School

VIDEO: The New York City Fire Department has arrived in South Bend, where they’re training right here in the city. The FDNY is working side-by-side with South Bend Fire’s River Rescue School to prepare for water-related emergencies. The team actually visits annually to train in South Bend. The teams performed various drills, including one with two people trapped in a car in the water and one person on top of the car. “This particular one is with the New York City Fire Department. They come here to learn advance so far our skills that they’re required to know for their special operations command group, which is includes rescue companies, squad companies, special operations companies that are within the city of New York and part of their New York City taskforce,” said Captain Brent VanBrauene, with the South Bend Fire Indiana River Rescue School.
