A house fire on Greenup Avenue in Ashland left at least two families without a home Friday morning. The blaze started sometime before 9 a.m. at 2236 Greenup Avenue. Resident Gene Shoemaker said he and his wife Tamyra were watching television and drinking coffee in the downstairs portion of the home "when someone started beating on my door saying the place was on fire." "We've only been here 11 days," Shoemaker said. "We just moved in." The American Red Cross was at the scene offering assistance.
