Madisonville Fire Department responded to an alarm at 8:58 this morning for a fire possibly caused by a water heater at a Springlake Street home. MFD reported smoke was showing upon their arrival at 9:01 a.m. Crews knocked down the flames from a side doorway, and used fans to clear smoke from the home. Firefighters conducted overhaul operations in the utility room and kitchen area. Fire officials believe the fire started near the gas water heater, revealing there was a large amount of burnt debris near the heater including a wooden shelf and clothing.
