The Mt. Washington Fire Protection District was awarded $19,000 on behalf of Gov. Matt Bevin and the Kentucky Office of Homeland Security (KOHS) as part of the 2017 Homeland Security Grant Program (HSGP). The funds will go toward the purchase of 19 hazmat suits, which protect first responders against hazardous materials they could encounter during the course of performing their duties. “I commend KOHS and Governor Bevin for awarding this important grant to our fire protection district,” said Mount Washington Representative Dan Johnson, a Republican who serves on the Veterans, Military Affairs, and Public Protection Committee.
