Three people were displaced after a fire ravaged their East 12th Street home Tuesday evening. Firefighters from three Hopkinsville fire stations responded to the structure fire shortly after 5:45 p.m. at 810 East 12th Street. Upon arrival, Hopkinsville Fire Department Public Information Officer Captain Michael Pendleton says firefighters found the home fully engulfed and battled the blaze until it was contained about 30 minutes later. Hopkinsville Electric crews also responded to the scene to cut off electricity from downed power lines that had fallen across the scene due to the fire, while Atmos officials shut off gas utilities to a neighboring home as a precaution. Captain Pendleton says the home is estimated to be a total loss and the American Red Cross is assisting the three residents displaced due to the extensive fire damage.
